Battle of the Books

Please plan on meeting in the library during lunch (bring your lunch) every Tuesday for the rest of February and March.

This will be time to meet with your teams, make sure everyone is on track with your reading, and have PRACTICE COMPETITIONS. We are one month away from our Millikan Battle of the Books!

Spring 2015 Events

BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

Teams meet in the library every Friday during lunch.

Competition is March 21 from 7:30-1:30 at Sepulveda Middle School. All are welcome and we need adult volunteers. Email bolenick@lausd.net to volunteer at the Battle.

Young Adult Literary Festival comes to Santa Monica, California April 11-12. If you love reading (or have seen any of the amazing books turned into movies) you don't want to miss this opportunity to meet and listen to panel discussions by your favorite authors. Author talks, book signings, food trucks, music, and more! All ages welcome!

Welcome Back!

I'm looking forward to an exciting new year with you! Stop by to say hello and tell me about your summer, and hopefully what you've read.

When can you start using the library?
We will be open for student use  begin checking out books on Monday, 8/18. You must have a student ID (any year, any school).

What's going on in there?
Interested in Battle of the Books? Our first meeting will be in the LMC during lunch on Wednesday, 8/20 and Thursday, 9/4. Come on by to learn all about this exciting group.

What should I read?
We have a lot of new books, and hundreds on the way. Try this new smartphone app to get book recommendations or our school library search app to see what we have on the shelves.

Battle of the Books 2015-2015 Reading List

Teams must consist of 4-6 people and may be mixed grade levels.
Each book should be read by at least two people on each team.
The first meeting will be in the library the first week of September.
